As busy parents, we often forget to pause and take a little time for ourselves. For me, I tend to get so caught up in my kid’s schedules that at the end of the night when I’m supposed to have “ME” time, I just collapse into bed and snooze. I’m so exhausted! this kind of lifestyle is not healthy at all. Little by little I’m turning into an over-caffeinated Mombie! where the daily stress and anxiety of life are becoming the new norm!
But not so fast! I recently started meditating again with Muse. The Brain-Sensing Headband and I know what you’re thinking. Who has the time right? Well, if you have 3 minutes a day, a mobile device, and a headset, you’re good to go!
What is Muse:
Muse is a Bluetooth-enabled wireless adjustable headband and pretty much a modern day way to meditate. It’s like having your own meditation assistant in the comfort of your own space on your time! Whether you’re at work or home, you simply put on your Muse headband and let it measure your mind as you close your eyes and are guided into meditation with your virtual assistant.
You simply start by downloading the Muse app from Google Play or the App Store, calibrate your headband and answer a series of questions. (don’t worry. You won’t have to do this every time) and voila!
Here’s how it works:
Muse measures whether your mind is calm or active, and translates that data into weather sounds. In the beginning of my first session, the weather was very windy. I kept losing focus and my mind kept wandering. Eventually, the weather turned into calm waves and birds chirping. You’ll learn more about the birds as you go deeper into meditation. After each 3 – 20 minutes session, you can review your data, set your goals to get into deeper meditation. Which is your ultimate goal. My goal is to keep my weather calm!
The science behind Muse:
- Your brain is constantly generating electrical signals when you’re thinking, sleeping or even relaxing. These signals can be detected from outside your head, via sensors.
- Muse uses the same brain sensing technology that doctors and scientists have employed for more than a century to detect your brain signals, similar to how a heart monitor measures your pulse.
- Muse has 7 finely calibrated sensors – 2 on the forehead, 2 behind the ears plus 3 reference sensors – which detect and measure the activity of your brain.
Whether you’re new to meditation or a guru, the Muse Brain Sensing Headband is perfect for the modern day Mama! you’ll be reaching your goal in no time while learning calming breathing techniques to keep you Zen. To learn more about Muse and where to purchase visit http://www.choosemuse.com/
